I liked the little background intros the author wrote in at the beginning of every chapter. But, I didn't like all of the holes in the plot. Some of the events happened with too much convenience and not enough common sense. For instance, when Rory left with "The Ripper" in the middle of the dance, I had to stop and re-read a few paragraphs to make sure I didn't miss something. She just left. There was no internal monologue or threats from "The Ripper." Moments like that were hard for me to swallow. The characters and the idea of ghost police were interesting enough for me to warrant 3 stars. But the author was hit and miss with her writing style.
