Lola and the Boy Next Door
If you keep in mind that contemporary fiction novels generally just re-spin the same few themes, this book is lovely. It's as refreshing as it could possibly get. Teenage angst and love, and all that. What is refreshing are the characters. The boy next door, and the girl next door, are not the typical Ken and Barbie. They have unique lives and family units, but they are going through some very common growing experiences. It was sweet and fun without being too serious and over-the-top.
